Overview

I built Open Releases to make it easy for people to discover open-source applications and get the correct installer for their platform without hunting through GitHub release pages.

Challenge

Finding usable open-source apps with proper installers can be frustrating and time-consuming.

What I shipped

• A searchable catalog of curated open-source apps filtered by platform and sorted by activity or popularity.
• Detailed views showing release notes, screenshots, and platform-specific downloads.
• User features like favorites and submission of new repositories for review.
• An admin dashboard to manage submissions, users, and featured apps.
• Automated discovery and update of projects using GitHub Actions to keep the catalog fresh.

Result
